Smyth was an Ireland international. He lives in Wigan with his wife Amanda and 4 children - Robbie, aged 17; Chloe, 14; Lily aged 4; and Connie aged 2.
He has 4 nephews and 2 nieces: Thomas, 16; Alex, 14; Louis, 9; Amy, 19, who has now had her first child, Henry Oliver-James; Lauren, 6; and John, 9. Rob's son Robbie, 17, is currently in work and daughter, Chloe, 14, is in year 9. Currently attend Cansfield High School.
